Innovation, creativity and design – a successful trade fair for MKT!

The 15th edition of Sicam – the international trade fair specialising in components, technology products and accessories for the furniture industry – attracted around 9,243 visitors from 113 countries to Pordenone in Italy. 692 exhibitors from 34 countries presented themselves on a net exhibition area of 19,135 square metres – a slight increase compared to previous years and proof of how important direct and personal exchange is for all players in the furniture industry. With a new booth design and a large number of new products, we presented ourselves in our usual position in hall 7, booth 7B and enjoyed exciting discussions in a climate of optimism and positivity during the four days of the fair. We were able to make more contacts than ever before at Sicam and discuss industry trends and innovations with the interested public.

 

We would like to thank all visitors, partners and employees for this successful trade fair, the time spent together, the interest in our products and, of course, the trust placed in us. We are already looking forward to seeing you again at Sicam 2025!

Our ALPHA-TAPE® DESIGN ALLIANCE is growing

This year’s Sicam presentation was characterised by new trends and exciting decor bestsellers from all leading surface manufacturers. First and foremost, we presented the latest edgeband designs in design alliance with Schattdecor, Interprint, Decor Druck Leipzig and Lamigraf. Our new design alliance partner Impress was also present for the first time. As a further highlight, we offered our perfectly matched edges for the six brand new and existing Master Oak decors from Unilin as the exclusive manufacturer.

SCHATTDECOR

The decor paper manufacturer Schattdecor has been our partner for many years. This year, we worked closely with them to produce perfectly matching edges for the exciting decors in the "Prime Collection 24/25" and "Global Essentials" - including EURASIA OAK, BILBAO WALNUT, TAJ MAHAL and RIVA.

Schattdecor presented four new designs live and exclusively at Sicam: SAKURA, SARDES OAK, ATLANTIC COAST and MONTMARTRE OAK. Of course, we also had the already finished ALPHA-TAPE® edges with us and were able to show them to the interested public.

INTERPRINT

At Design Days 2024, Interprint presented its decors under the motto "End of Trend". To match this collection, we showed the perfect interplay of board and edgeband for the trend decors ENORA, CATO and ROOKWOOD OAK.

We also exhibited designs from the "Unlimited Edition" and complemented these perfectly with our edgebanding for NIARA, PORT OAK and ANCONA.

At our booth, we exhibited our edges for the brand new decors WILDEICHE NATUR, BOSTON OAK and TERRACOTTA from our partner Decor Druck Leipzig.

We also showcased the popular designs from the "Elastic Future" collection of our partner Lamigraf. Among them were the finished edges for the decors GRETA, JAVA and CONJO OAK.

IMPRESS

We were able to gain the decor paper manufacturer Impress as a further member of our design alliance. For the first time in co-operation, we presented our perfectly matched ALPHA-TAPE® edges for the brand new decors FREDONIA WALNUT, STORSUND OAK, BIANCO ONYX and AZUL ONYX.

Live at Sicam Schattdecor presented the various colour nuances of the popular SALVADOR OAK together with our detailed and harmonious ALPHA-TAPE® edgebanding.

UNILIN

We are proud to be the exclusive manufacturer of the original edgebanding for the new Master Oak designs from Unilin. We presented our ALPHA-TAPE® ABS and ALPHA-TAPE® PP edges in same colour and structure to match the current collection. Visitors to our booth were able to see the perfect match between board and edgeband. With our SOFT MATT refinement and identical surface properties, our edges perfectly complement the unique natural look of Master Oak designs and are already available from stock.

ALPHA-TAPE® DIGITAL EDGE

Another highlight at our booth was our latest digitally printed edgebanding - including the CALIFORNIA ELM from Schattdecor and BIANCO ONYX from Impress. With the authentic print image and the option of combining all MKT surfaces, we were able to convince the public of the high quality of our edges. ALPHA-TAPE® DIGITAL EDGE is now available in ABS and PP.

The sustainability of our production is an important issue for us. That is why we have introduced our ALPHA-TAPE® REBUY buy-back program for sustainable recycling of unused material. It is a way of reducing our ecological footprint and extending the service life of our edges by optimising the raw material cycle.

STOPGAP STARTERKIT

We also presented our STOPGAP STARTER KIT for use in fully automatic edgebanding machines. Visitors were able to see how this system works and we also showed the already well-known products STOPGAP PEN and STOPGAP FLUID - our highly effective and waterrepellent hydrophobing agent.

ALPHA-TAPE® FLAME-PROOF ABS

Our diverse and innovative range of ALPHA-TAPE® edgebanding for special applications already extends from softforming and zero joint technology to multi-layer construction and lightweight honeycomb panels. At Sicam we also presented our latest product for first time: ALPHA-TAPE® FLAME-PROOF ABS - our flame-retardant edgebanding for decorative narrow surface covering of wood-based materials. Available now.

ALPHA-TAPE® BICOLOR

In addition to our new products, we presented various types of our ALPHA-TAPE® BICOLOR edgebanding. By combining two colours in layers of different thicknesses, this edgeband can be used to create particularly attractive design effects in almost any colour combination. ALPHA-TAPE® BICOLOR is available in PP and ABS.

ALPHA-TAPE® METALLIC PRO ABS

We also show our ALPHA-TAPE® METALLIC PRO ABS edgebanding. Whether in a smooth or brushed metal look, matched with the surface or deliberately as a contrasting solution, ALPHA-TAPE® METALLIC PRO ABS can be combined with all MKT surface finishes.

ALPHA-TAPE® WPC

As part of our sustainability concept, we showcased environmentally friendly edgebanding solutions such as our ALPHA-TAPE® made from WPC (wood plastic composite). With this edgeband consisting of PP and small wood particles or fibres, cellulose and additives, we offer edges that are perfect for wood decors, highly recyclable and environmentally friendly.
